About the 2019 seminars: The Anxiety Practitioners Network is pleased to bring you the 2019 series of Clinical Focus Seminars aimed at providing clinicians and clinical students with up to date information relating to different fields of anxiety treatment. These seminars will be run by clinicians and clinical researchers who are experts in their respective fields.
About this seminar: Perinatal loss occurs very frequently, more often than we might like to think. Even if you are not a psychologist who focuses on the reproductive years, you will most likely have some contact with this type of loss. People can be touched by perinatal loss directly or indirectly – either their own personal experience, in the present or past, or someone in their family or circle of friends.
This interactive talk explores aspects of recent cases, sharing the stories of parents who have experienced loss and the strategies they found most helpful. Multiple evidence-based therapeutic modalities will be discussed, and importantly how to avoid common clinician pitfalls. It will assist clinicians to extend their practice for working with perinatal loss, but also to think further about grief and anxiety as co-morbid presentations more generally.
About the presenter: Wendy Roncolato (BSc Psych, MPsych Clin, PhD) is a clinical psychologist with expertise in women’s health and perinatal psychology. She established Cloudberry Clinic in 2014 after 15 years in public health including positions at UNSW, Macquarie University, Royal Hospital for Women and Karitane. Wendy is a clinician, researcher and AHPRA approved supervisor. Further to her PhD exploring different approaches to mothering infants, she has published a range of scientific papers, taught university students, presented at relevant national and international conferences and contributed to Beyond the Baby Blues: The complete handbook for emotional wellbeing during early parenthood (Knox, O’Reilly & Smith 2014).
