APN EVENING SEMINAR‘New Frontiers: Innovations in OCD Research and Practice’Dr. Shiu (Kelvin) WongPostdoctoral Research FellowAnxiety and OCD Laboratory, Concordia University, Montreal
About the ‘New Frontiers’ seminars: In 2020 the Anxiety Practitioners Network will be bringing you a range of Seminars aimed at providing an up to date review of the current evidence-based psychological treatments for the anxiety disorders as well as emerging treatment innovations to help further improve treatment outcomes. About this seminar: Despite extensive research, there is still a lot that we do not understand about obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD). Similarly, although existing treatments for OCD are effective, we can do better. Evidence-based treatments like cognitive-behavioural therapy were designed to evolve with theory; as such, this presentation will first describe the current and developing state of OCD theory and research, followed by their clinical implications. About the presenter: Shiu (Kelvin) Wong is a Clinical Psychologist and Postdoctoral Research Fellow working on a large-scale clinical research trial comparing exposure and response prevention with cognitive therapy for OCD. Kelvin completed his PhD in 2017 on the role of dysfunctional reasoning processes in OCD at the University of New South Wales and since then has been building on this research at Concordia University in Montreal, Canada. Kelvin was supervised by Professor Jessica Grisham for his PhD and is currently mentored by Professor Adam Radomsky and Dr. Frederick Aardema, all internationally recognised experts in OCD.
